The automation has become crucial in the translation process nowadays. Software tools are widely used in scientific and technical translation enabling to convert different document formats, extract terms from a text, manage terminology, analyze and verify translations. This report analyzes the usage of information technologies as one of the main components of translation competence, describes skills and knowledge necessary for the acquisition of translation competence.
