The article describes the types of semantic changes in modern phraseology. The material for research is the idioms that have changed their meaning while keeping the stability of the form. Besides the analysis of problems and methods of describing the semantic changes in phraseology, as well as an overview of the changes themselves, the author examines some types of the semantic derivation in modern Russian phraseology.
