        <p>The article is dedicated to problems of categorial status of approximation and ways of expressing it in language. Approximation is characterized as universal, conceptual, modus category which can be actualized on all levels of language structure. The existing typologies are analysed and the new typology, that takes into consideration various statuses of approximation, is introduced.</p>
