      <abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>A virtual communication dictates person new conditions. In real life the set of characteristics affects the first impression. Online only nickname and avatar exist. They are selected by a communicator to identify itself. The purpose of the article is to answer the question how the personality is revealed in his avatar. The work was conducted in a group in two phases: the first was modeled the situation of choice an avatar, the second was sociological research, during which it was necessary to describe all the avatars and to determine their owners. The results show that the definition of avatar’s owner is possible and depends primarily on two factors: “fame” of person in the group and peculiarities of the sign itself.</p>
