The author presents the development of russian military chemical industry in the period of the first World War. russian scientists’ works in the field of the production of toxic and explosive substances are analyzed. special attention is paid to the meritorious work of the outstanding russian chemists v. ipatieff and P. fedotjev. The author issues activities of the chemical committee of the Main artillery administration and the Military chemical committee of the russian Physico-chemical association.
