Objectives: The article deals with the effectiveness of university lectures in contemporary computerized society. It considers factors influence the availability of educational information on the lecture role in the learning process, estimated attitude to lecture students and teachers. Methods: The study used survey methods, observation, analysis of the results of published studies, analysis of the literature on the impact of Internet technologies on the thinking of the students and the value of lectures in training students. Conclusions: On the basis of analysis of the data shows that in the modern educational process of the role of traditional information lecture is undergoing major changes. Although demand on the part of students, its importance in the educational process is reduced. At the same time, the role of the orientation, consulting and motivational types of lectures increases. Swaps the position of lectures in the educational process, to the forefront of practice. It requires change teachers' attitudes to the preparation and holding of lectures, rejection of formalism and the transition to interactive technologies.
