This article examines the activity of the Russian Orthodox Church’s higher governance – Metropolitan Sergius and members of Provisional Patriarch’s Synod under him to maintain order and discipline on the canonical basis to prevent the final collapse and degradation of church life during new atheistic state’s anti-religious attack.
