Abstract:

In the article the author makes a step by step analysis of symbolism in the Seraphita novel which may be called the climax of Balzac's mysticism. Mythological and Christianity-related symbols are closely interwoven in this work. Revealing these symbols is extremely important for understanding of the philosophical and religious system constructed by the great French novelist Balzac basing on Emanuel Swedenborg's theosophy.
