Ambisemia in the translation of ecological lexicon (based on the material of German-language newspaper discourse 2023–2024)
The aim of this study is to identify discursive features of the formation of the environmental terminology system with special attention to the value guidelines and attitudes of representatives of different linguocultures and to the strategies for updating environmental issues. Taking into account the need to take into account the cultural specificity of terminological units as cognitive-linguistic means of expression, the material for the study was Russian- and German-language media texts directly related to the representation of the environmental agenda. The analysis of key terms revealed that they can perform a dual function: on the one hand, they serve to popularize environmental issues, and on the other, they outline the range of the most significant environmental problems. The relevance of the study is due to the importance of considering the functioning of lexical units associated with the designation of thematic unity, as well as with the peculiarities of processing large information arrays in the dynamics of their organization. The analysis revealed that the immersion of this lexicon in the context of the media allows one and the same concept to be considered as units serving to develop the environmental theme in a positive way, and in some cases to consider them as “anti-words” – lexemes that form a negative attitude of the mass recipient to environmental issues. A specialist in the field of interlingual communication faces: difficulties in translating the environmental component; problems in translating neologisms; the need to take into account the factor of terminological ambisemia. Keywords: ecological lexicon, newspaper discourse, terminological system, ambisemia, intercultural and interlingual communication, translation, neologization.
