Reconsidering frame analysis vs linguistic worldview: converging or diverging?
The paper focuses on the distinctions between fundamental research approaches in linguistics, i.e., frame analysis and the linguistic map (picture) of the world, or the worldview and its objective is to determine where these two methodological perspectives converge and, vice versa, diverge. The explanatory potential of both approaches is analyzed with reference to metonymy and articles, that are researched in the frame analysis perspective, that helped to stretch the borderline between the two. The frame perspective is based on establishing non-random link between the elements of the frame and their connection with the nuclear, or framing element. As a result, cognition perspectives and explanatory potential of either of methodological approaches investigated are defined. The research potential of AI as regards defining the above distinction is tested, the direct request sent to ask about the distinction between the two was deemed unable to offer a plausible solution so far, which needs further experimenting.
