Norwegian legal system is a part of so called Scandinavian legal group. Sharing a lot with the countries of Civil law, Scandinavian countries are similar to the Common law countries as well. One of these similarities is an acknowledgement of precedential law that is made by highest courts of Scandinavian countries, Norway included. Nevertheless, the Norwegian doctrine of precedent has its own features.
