The  icon  in  the  ensemble  of  the  internal  space  of  the  temple:  on  the  historiographical  statement of the problem

The article on the material of Byzantine and Russian medieval sources, analyzes the main trends of interpretation of place and function of icons in the context of an ensemble of an Orthodox church. There are two ways of solving this problem in the contemporary scientific and religious-theological literature.
