The competence and communication approaches to professional training of translators and interpreters have been discussed. The main goals of MA translator and interpreter training have been reviewed and the ways of their achievement have been suggested. The usage of the following means and techniques have been proved: verbalization technique, making crosswords to control the knowledge of translation terms, communication training, reviewing best practices and errors made by translators.
